I opened the door this morning to let in some fresh morning air and noticed this fellow passing through our yard!
Of course we asked him to stay and visit!
But he seemed to have places to go and people to see!
AH identified our visitor as a painted turtle. We looked up painted turtles on Warner Nature Center's website (this nature center is very near our home).

Turtles are so great. What a great way to start the day. I remember helping box turtles cross the road as a kid. We hardly ever see them where I live now. It's fence lizards and garter snakes here.
